OutcomeAccurate curved-tube geometry

01 Objective

Strengthen part modeling skills in Solid Edge through a component with complex curved geometry.

02 Problem Statement

The curved glass tubes of a CFL bulb are geometrically demanding to model accurately while keeping the part fully parametric.

03 Design Process

I modeled the key components — base, housing, and curved glass tubes — with attention to geometric accuracy.

04 CAD Models

Full CFL bulb assembly modeled in Solid Edge.

05 Design Decisions

Built the curved tube geometry using swept and helical features to keep the model fully parametric and editable.

06 Challenges

Modeling the curved glass tube geometry as a fully parametric, editable feature rather than a one-off static shape.

07 Results & Outcomes

Produced a geometrically accurate CFL bulb model with complex curved-tube features.

08 Learnings

Improved my understanding of creating complex 3D features and assembling product geometry with tightly interdependent parts.
