01 Objective

Build part modeling, assembly, and rendering skills in CATIA through a detailed multi-piece product exercise.

02 Problem Statement

Each chess piece has distinct geometry, and the full set needs consistent scale and finish quality to read as a cohesive product.

03 Design Process

I modeled the chessboard and individual chess pieces, assembled them into a complete set, and applied materials and textures for a realistic appearance, adding custom decals to the board before rendering.

04 CAD Models

Individual piece models plus full board assembly in CATIA.

05 Design Decisions

Standardized piece base dimensions across the set to keep proportions consistent on the board.

06 Materials

Wood and stone-finish materials applied to pieces and board for a realistic presentation.

07 Challenges

Keeping proportions and finish quality consistent across many distinct piece geometries in one set.

08 Results & Outcomes

Produced a complete, photorealistic chess set render with custom board decals.

09 Learnings

Good practice in managing a multi-part assembly where consistency across pieces matters as much as any single part's geometry.
