01 Objective

Improve part and surface modeling skills in CATIA through a full concept-vehicle exterior exercise.

02 Problem Statement

A concept car needs cohesive, flowing body-panel surfaces that read well from every angle, which requires combining solid and surface modeling techniques deliberately.

03 Design Process

I designed the concept car by combining Part Design and Surface Design to create smooth exterior body panels and realistic vehicle geometry, then applied materials and rendered the final model in a realistic environment.

04 CAD Models

Full concept-car exterior model in CATIA, combining solid and surface features.

05 Design Decisions

Blended Part Design solids with Surface Design panels at panel-to-panel transitions to keep the exterior visually seamless.

06 Materials

Automotive paint and glass materials applied for the environment render.

07 Challenges

Blending solid and surface modeling at panel transitions without visible discontinuities across the exterior.

08 Results & Outcomes

Produced a high-quality, environment-rendered concept car exterior.

09 Learnings

Reinforced how to combine solid and surface workflows deliberately — a technique I now use on any project mixing structural and styled geometry.
